It takes courage to start this process. I’m proud of you for being here and for recognizing that your mental health is a priority. I believe that healing happens when we feel seen, heard and understood. I strongly trust that you are the expert of your own life, with my role being to work alongside you to identify the barriers to your goals. I aim to provide a comforting and safe space for you to express your concerns, while helping you recognize thought patterns and alternative coping skills to guide you towards your goals in therapy, at a pace that feels right for you.
I became a therapist after seven years of working in the settings of long-term, palliative and hospice care. These experiences have proven beneficial, as I now provide individual and couples counseling to those experiencing life transitions, trauma, grief, relationship stressors, medical conditions, attachment concerns and mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, OCD and PTSD.
I take a person-centered and holistic approach to therapy, as I highlight the connection between the mind and body and aim to utilize practices to deepen your understanding of this connection in your own life. I’m a fully licensed social worker in Michigan and hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Michigan State University, with often engaging in ongoing education to best serve my clients. I apply the following theoretical approaches in my practice, which includes the polyvagal theory, mindfulness-based techniques, attachment theory and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I am also trained in Brainspotting, which assists individuals with processing unresolved trauma using eye movement. These practices are often used in conjunction with each other, with your consent and comfort level being the focus throughout our sessions. I aim to be a witness to your growth, walking beside you as you establish the best version of yourself.
When I’m not helping others, I enjoy spending my time with my fluffy pup, Gizmo, catching views of the great outdoors or watching Harry Potter on repeat.
I aim for a collaborative approach to therapy, therefore, I welcome any questions, reservations or concerns about starting the therapy process and look forward to hearing from you soon!
